For safety reasons, the fuel pump must not pump when the engine is at a standstill. What is self-evident with a mechanical fuel pump becomes interesting when retrofitting to an electric fuel pump. A switch-off must ensure that the pump does not run when the engine is stopped. The law requires it for good reason. In the event of an accident, no one wants the contents of the tank to escape as an accelerant.

For this reason, CSP Products has implemented a safety shutdown as a compact solution that achieves exactly that. When the ignition is switched on, the relay for filling the float chambers is activated for approximately 2 seconds and then disconnects again. This avoids the risk of the pump overheating. The relay then only switches on when the speed is detected via the connection on the ignition coil. If the engine stops, the relay disconnects the power supply to the fuel pump.

Can be used with conventional ignition systems. The resistance of the ignition coil at the primary winding must not be less than 2 ohms. Compatible with CSP Pacemaker, 123 Ignition, Bosch 009, contactless ignition ignitor, breaker contact etc.
